Long ago morality was sparse,
Kings and queens,
Fighting one another,
Their swords drawn,
And up in arms.
The lord of Hades,
Welcoming the guilty,
Knowing mortality,
Had to be taught,
But such is the way of the mortal,
Morals are forgotten,
In the battlefield,
And the fights and lies,
That touch all mortals,
For there is always a fight to be had,
There are ways to get revenge,
And often a bloody revenge,
The way of the mortal,
Walking the earth,
Taking the bad with the bad,
And causing pain,
Words to cut like meat,
Words said with deceit,
This true throughout mankind,
Man always brutal,
Over land and riches,
And this always to be so,
But bloody days,
Pursue those guilty,
Manipulating the mortal,
Into a life of deceit,
Where every night they cheat,
For cruel is the world,
The mortal walking wounded,
With no awareness of why,
And even when those mothers cry,
Their son and daughter is still dead,
No matter the tears shed,
The mortal not knowing human worth,
And now the world will turn,
Such is the way of the mortals.
