Suffers Better More Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Suffers Better More

Who is it left,
That suffers better more.
In these times lived to lose,
False impressions to make.
Amongst those isolated.
Feeling safe.
In communities guarded.
Protected and walled,
Within customized wrought iron gates.

Who is it that suffers best?
The ones witnessing,
Their friends, relatives...
And quality of life,
Succumb to a virus.
Spreading certain threats of death.

Or...
Could it be,
Those affording to buy stocks and bonds.
Fearing millions to have invested,
Remains stable enough...
To allow them to go on,
With their pretensions to prolong.

Who is it left,
Believed better left that suffers?
Those who are made to delude the truth?
Or the ones too afraid,
To admit a reality...
Has come to stay,
To adjust, adopt and adapt to it.
Since that 'normalcy' wanted,
Had to wish back.
With entitlements given,
Perceived to believe...
A few and not all,
Are deserving of them to receive.

Who is it left,
In these 'announced'...
Pandemic days of all our lives,
Can continue to disbelief...
Many will qualify themselves not to suffer.
But can identify the ones who are,
Deserving to be treated...
With racism, division and evil misdeeds.
By those in positions,
Declaring themselves Christians.
Yet...
Proving,
No knowledge of the Ten Commandments.
To follow.
Or commit to them to live.

Although...
Quick to quote scriptures.
As if to know what The Word,
Is meant to mean...
For 'others' when loudly to shout.
Sins coming out of their own mouths!
