Summer's Sultry Nights Poem by Shaun Cronick

Summer's Sultry Nights

Rating: 5.0

Summers here and here it stays,
And we welcome its sunny rays.
But one thing that never excites,
Are those sleepless sultry nights.

On a soft bed trying to keep cool,
Counting sheep like a restless fool.
Window wide open without a breeze,
A temperature in the high degrees.

Hot I am and hot I'll be,
Until some cooling rain I see.
Summer's here and here it stays,
Sultry nights and its cruel malaise.

Thanks Rose Marie and in answer to your large comment I do concur. I think being overheated saps the train of not just poetry thought but all thought. Thanks again and take care.

A marvelous poem on one of the most favorite seasons of those who love outdoor activities. Yet, its temperature in the high degrees will easily exhaust our energy. I concur with the brilliant Poet that summer nights without rain are indeed not exciting. The hot temperature will bring sleepless nights.
