Sunset And Moonshine Poem by Adrian Antique

Sunset And Moonshine

first saw her in a queue waiting to board a jeep
munching at something she's taken out of her pocket --
her simple.. beautiful face glowing with a biscuit
amidst a seemingly faceless crowd before a sunset …
then after seemingly endless minutes we took our ride
was elated as we were seated side by side
stole glances at her from time to time
noticed she was singing to herself some kind of rhyme...
fell in love with her humming that flowing soft tune
sounded like a familiar wedding song in June
caught her closing her eyes and chuckling a bit
unbothered by the chaos out in the night street.
how i wished we could share some music
in a place where the clock would stop to tick
and whisper sweet nothings in each other's ear --
building together tomorrow's pieces without fear.
then at one of the stops all disappeared in a blur
when she left our journey and her man embraced her --
Love then is that short trip home with my moonshine
and holding on to her music in my mind...
then suddenly finding the end of our little valentine --
daylight fading with the colors she left behind.
