Superhero Poem by Leslie Alexis

Superhero

Superhero

I'm burdened
By weights I filled myself
over years.
I added so much
that I cannot lift my feet,
I am deformed, my face
made to look down
upon the feet
that cannot move forward.
I need help.
A super hero if you will.
I need help.

I have heard of a man.
A superhero.
That by being nailed to a tree
Carried the world on his back,
And walked so far
that he ascended
into the sky...
and is there...
remaining high...
to take burdens
like mine, from all who
are willing to give them to him...

I'll give him my burdens.
