Surface Dwellers Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Surface Dwellers

Materialism to worship it.
The hustle and bustle to possess things.
Temporarily gleaming to fade and rust.
Envy and jealousy based mainly upon,
False images to market and sell.
Leaving surface dwellers,
Routinely seeking,
What someone else has bought.
With no thoughts beyond creating debt.
And minds without depth,
Used and awaiting to be manipulated.
