Surround Sound For The Soul Poem by Prionsías Ó Canáin

Surround Sound For The Soul

Rating: 4.5

Listen to the voice of the river
It carries tears of the thousands passed
Scattering them to sky and sea and earth
Then quietly speaks to you of dreams and cares
Emptying your soul with almost silent singing

Now hold your breath a moment,
Listen with unencumbered hearing.

Ssshhh.
Can you hear the lilt of other voices too?

I like this one. I read it over and over. I spent many an our as a kid on the banks of the Ohio. Like the river, your poem speaks to me. Ron

Your titles are really unique. The river that speaks to me is the Ohio river. A very beautiful poem. Happy to have become acquainted with your work. Warmest regards, Sandra

Beautiful. I am sure those are the soothing voices that Beethoven heard in 1807 and 08.

Yes, now you've reminded me to stop & listen & feel the tears & sweat of my ancestors singing in the rhythm of the hills & mines. Thank you.
