Swim To The Dolphin Poem by Paula Glynn

Swim To The Dolphin

The boat is quickly sinking
The passengers are terrified and very scared
Seeing weapons and tired of wishful thinking
Pirates stealing from their private safe onboard
Tricking them evily into giving them the code
The tension of the situation in overload.

The passengers now in the cold sea water
Praying for their sons and daughters
Frightened of what's beneath the water:
Water that tosses and turns in frightening waves
Feeling desperate and in a daze
Wondering how to find another boat,

The boat they were on fiercely ablaze
The pirates having stolen everything
Their criminal ways nasty and clever
Their devious behaviour and their devious minds
Impressive yet impossible to fight
The people on the boat having put up a fight,

But now they are in the water
And the pirates are long gone
And one passenger says 'Swim to the dolphin'
Knowing they'll then keep afloat
Until they can faithfully find another boat
Where they'll be rescued but meanwhile they must cope,

The dolphin guides them safely through the water
And keeps them all from drowning with other dolphins
A miracle occurring when they are spotted
And within twenty minutes they
Are aboard a lifeguard boat away from potential sharks
Having received an emergency SOS hours earlier,

Alive and well to tell the tale
The passengers on that small boat
Explain everything that happened that day on sea
When they were tricked by clever pirates
Manipulated and forced into the ocean
Where they became dolphins only helpful notion,

The pirates searched for but never found
But the crew still travel through the ocean
In spite of the deadly dangers they face
But they now know sealife can be trusted
That nature can protect even in precarious circumstances
And they now deliberately swim in pools with dolphins.
