Symbols 2 Poem by Savita Tyagi

Symbols 2

Rating: 5.0

Pieces of stone and steel
Turned in monuments of beauty
Through an artist's vision
Decorate public squares.

In turbulent times when
Present burns on ambers of past
History warms up to brutal
Razing passions of mind.

Even in their silence symbols
Become pit of fire where a mind
At peace that nurtures beauty
Is pitted against its hatred blind.

Even in their silence symbols Become pit of fire..... So true.....! Symbols change their meaning and relevance according to context! An artist using a symbol may create an altogether different effect than that is perceived by an ordinary man! A great write, profound as the symbols!

Thanks Valsa for your thoughtful comment. Yes symbols can become quite contentious when it comes to invoking different emotions.
