Taking The High Road Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Taking The High Road

Taking the high road.
To do it nonstop.
I'm taking the high road.
With each step I've got.
And I'm doing it to leave,
Those not ready....
To leave the low behind and to drop.

Looking up to take the high road.
No matter how steep.
To get away from those seeking self defeat.
As if the doing this done,
Is required for them,
To live and breathe.

Taking the high road.
No matter how steep.
Looking up to take the high road.
And not defeat.
My mind is staying on the high road.
With a moving my feet.
To get away from people seeking self defeat.
As if to need it.
