Besides, not getting what we want may cause more hardship than getting what we want! ! Do you live in a building made without any wood? I doubt it. etc.

More or less, I believe it is only 'selfish' when our desires impose undue hardships on others. But, we may not realize we are creating hardships.

And we keep destroying so many things in the process to prosper and live King Size Life...Don't We!

I 'take exception to' *** using 'selfish' in the title. *** 'This idiom, first recorded in 1542, uses exception in the sense of "objection, " a meaning obsolete except in a few phrases.'

Well, you've given readers something to think about. Some people 'make a living' from tree farming and harvesting and supplying wood & wood products. Wood IS a 'renewable resource' unlike metal and plastic.

I planting 'replacement trees', as seedlings, is 'nice', but that is also done often, I think, by people who, for pleasure &/or profit want future trees.
