That Which Is Visible Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

That Which Is Visible

Not to see that which is visible,
But to worship that to idolize with symbols...
In beliefs that ruin the lives of others,
Is as demonic as it is to create wars...
With the intention to feed one's greed.
And to do it as if it is sacred.
And those taking positions against this...
Were diminished in appearance to look as if weak.

'The first time I hear the name Lucifer,
I was a child and sitting in a church.
To learn all I needed to know about 'sin'.
And to discover those who were doing it,
Around me.
And the one standing behind the pulpit,
Advocating the awareness...
In a very heated delivery to demonstrate.

Yes...
The first time I heard of evil,
I saw it done first in a church,
Where people were taught to fear.
But not cease from their practicing of evils.'

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

a thought provoking poem. Once I observed a small boy told his mother, when he was asked to identify the race of people, that the person that his mother showed him was a man, not an Asian. Actually we, adults spoil our children with out pre determined illusions as you used to write...
