The Absence Poem by Nosheen Irfan

The Absence

Rating: 5.0

A tree laden with oranges
Ripening in patience
A bunch here. an absence
Of foliage there
A cat scurrying tentatively
Pawing a quashed orange
Towards some unknown fantasy
A window rattling just enough
To make the ears prick up
And droop suddenly
That's how the yard looks
So full of meaninglessness
So full of life not sure of itself.
