The Angel And The Devil Poem by Paula Glynn

The Angel And The Devil

THE ANGEL

The angel walked a pretty path,
All the roses, lilies, violets,
And other beautiful flowers,
Blooming with perfume,
God's fragranced garden,
Above those white clouds,
Where airplanes can only pass,
Angels feathered wings,
Singing a melody,
Only an angel knows how to sing,

Her heart reaching out,
To all of God's world,
Until she fell,
Those clouds seeing her fall,
And saying hello to the devil,
An immortal, one of,
The mysteries of the universe.

His eyes enchanted with her,
Hungrily feeding,
On her pure soul,
Having been freed from hell,
But now knowing pain,
Once again,
Her wings not letting her off,
Out of the devil's heated world,
And place of anguish,
Wishing she had stayed,
In God's fragranced garden,
And not been a sinful angel,
Regret to wash down her face,
Saddened by all her crimes,
And now nightmares dressed up,
As pretty dreams to tempt the heart,
Women of the past, their dresses ripped,
In a past life, agony as they are torn at the seams.

THE DEVIL

The devil was told she had sinned,
Her feathered wings,
Falling from those white clouds,
An angel who did once sing,
But now terror waits,
Nightmare on Elm Street,
The devil singing her song,
No place in hell safe from fear.

But the devil also liked her,
And knew God loved her heart,
For in spite of her sins,
She was still an angel,
Soon no longer needing to burn,
Of a world that does always turn,
Some being roasted,
Like pigs in an oven,
The devil and his ox horns,
To trap those criminals,
And stop the murderers in their tracks,
Many chambers to choose from,

But now God's angel was here,
And God did tell the devil,
To play nice,
And play nice the devil did,
For she knew her sins,
And did repent,
The devil showing her errors,
That many make,
And lives she does not take,
For anger and pain does depart,
Love shining in her angelic heart,
Love a gift she now happily imparts,

For the problem with paradise,
Is that no one grows there,
Her soul knowing she has found,
Peace and release from her lesson.
