The Artist

An artist is a peculiar type—
accept this if you can—
in part an intellectual—
another part a caveman.

i'm glad you think so, bipasha. and thank you for writing. the lines describe me and other artists, i think, in combining earthiness with the intellectual ability to express it. -glen

great! these brief verses describe the way i've thought about myself for a long time, and i know it applies to at least a few more of us. we need the mental and intellectual wherewithal to express ourselves, but we express on very basic things. thank your for the affirming comment. -glen

An artist is an intellectual with some crudity and unrefined impulses like that of a caveman. He is not willing to surrender to artificial sophistication.... but prefers to be bare and naked! Much said in a few words!
