The Back Of His Hand - Poem by Dorothy Spooner

How much can you love, how deep does it feel..?
Does it engulf your heart, are you sure that it's real..?
Do you give love completely with no fear of regret..?
Is your life fufilled and are all your needs met..?
He tells you he's sorry and never again will he do
What he did in a fit of anger, what he took from you..
He has taken your love with the back of his hand
leaving his mark with his golden band
It doesn't ever change like you hoped it would
What used to be beautiful never again will be good
You tell yourself that tomarrow will be ok
But he takes your love again day after day..
The door closes behind you as you walk away
Tomarrow wouldn't be as good if you were to stay...
He has taken your love with the back of his hand
leaving his mark with his golden band..
