Like a vessel on a dark sea,
Its safe walls reaching to eternity,
Sailing on through the storms of life,
Is the Church.
The members there are safe from harm,
And they need not feel any alarm,
For the Captain safely directing the ship...
Is God.
Tho' the waters be rough,
And the going sometimes tough,
Tho' the rains may fall, the sun
Will shine.
Through faith and love we live each day,
Helping each other along the way...
And when one stumbles and falls,
We pray.
The teachings of Jesus are still alive,
The Word of God we use as our Guide,
And the Holy Spirit teaches us
Each day.
And, when the dark waters threaten us,
And doubts and fears overwhelm us,
The Spirit comes to strengthen and comfort,
In our distress.
Oh, let me be a lifeboat to the dying souls out there,
And may I be a witness for God's people everywhere,
Together may we hold the faith our fathers had...
So long ago.
A very good poem of faith. Thank you for sharing this- -very nicely done
A very good first poem. I like the pattern you used, with three longer lines per stanza, and then a shorter line at the end. Well done, and welcome to Poem Hunter!
