The Color Of Love Poem by Deidre Dixon

The Color Of Love

Rating: 5.0

Does love have a color or is love just a beautiful thing?
Does it matter who's loving who as long as love is what's happening?

Why do we get angry when we see love between two races?
Why can't we understand the notion that love can happen regardless of the color of faces?

How is it that we can determine how two people got together and make all types of assumptions?
Then devour them with our ignorant, racist words for our own selfish consumption!

Could it be that in many ways we have been scarred by rejection?
Is the disdain we sometimes feel inside a product of the lack of desired affection?

Do we stop short of exploring others because of preconceived perceptions?
Are we afraid of trying something other than what we know because of delusory misconceptions?

Love is love is love is love no matter which way you slice it.
Love between two souls is beautiful no matter which way you dice it.

If we would inspect our own motives and intents towards love with those who do not look like us,
I think we might find within ourselves that internal change is a must.

Love is like the air that we breathe that is clear, necessary and odorless.
The wonderful thing about love between two is that it is beautiful, essential and it is colorless!

Can't argue with that. Love grows like a tree wherever it finds the necessary acceptance.
