Not like Colossus of Rhodes or Miss Liberty,
Not among the Ancient Wonders of any kind,
Erected and overthrown, then erected again,
By diverse sovereigns of the Oriental Land.
But a distressed man, exiled from his native land,
A refugee seeking shelter and similar mind.
Is he a genius or a fool, or rather, just both?
The wise seem to know better than that to discuss.
Is it a collapsing wall that tempts many a push?
Is he a man who is down and for folks to crush?
In him I see no savior, nor god, nor success,
But an idol self-righting, for occasions to dress.
Where's the line from the sublime to the ridiculous?
How can one label the virtuous from the ambitious?
