The Cross Is Going To Cost You Poem by Gary James Smith

The Cross Is Going To Cost You

The Cross Is Going To Cost You

The Cross is going to cost you
Some friends and family
Who'll feel you have abandoned them
To chase some fantasy
But God who is our Helper
And knows us through and through
Is Whom we abide with constantly
And will be a Comfort unto you

Take up your cross and follow Him
The battle's not over yet
There are still souls to win
Don't live with the deep regret
That you refused to surrender all
To the All to Whom you owe
And missed the opportunities of
To win over some lost soul

The Cross it still standeth fast
Hallelujah what a Saviour
Who took sin's utmost blast
And left an empty grave there
Now risen are we in Him
So rise up men of God
Be not ashamed of the gospel of Christ
Nor let your candle be hid!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

A beautiful and superbly written psalm on the cost of following the Savior. No pain, no gain, no cross, no crown. Keep on sharing the Word and Christ through poetry - the world needs to hear it and read it. Amen.
