The Day My Name Was Ben

His face lit up. "How are you, Ben?
I ain't seen you since who knows when! "

Now, I'm not Ben; my name is Kim,
but that I'll not reveal to him.
He is so happy, joy no end.
He thinks he's found a long-lost friend.

"How is your wife? "

"Oh, she's just fine.
She spends a lot of time online.
She orders dresses, shoes and such.
Sometimes I think she spends too much,
but I don't scold her. She's a dear,
and fills my life with so much cheer."

"Well, I must go now; you take care,
and we'll meet up again somewhere."

And so I sent him on his way,
with hopes he'll see his Ben some day.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is based on a true story, except that it happened to my friend Darwin Henry (Hank) Beuning. Hank never did tell the man that he was not Ben. I told Hank that he should write a poem about it, but since he is locked out of Poem Hunter, I decided to write it myself.
