We were swimming in the Sevier River
One bright and sunny day.
Well, let's just say that most of us
Were swimming, anyway.
I couldn't swim, had not yet learned
And so I almost drowned.
I slipped into a pool too deep;
The current caught me, pulled me down.
I almost went to my last sleep
But then Rex saved the day.
He saw me sink, knew I was lost;
Did not think twice that it might cost
His own sweet life but dived right in,
And put his arm under my chin
And pulled me out. He saved my skin.
So anything I've ever done from that time forth,
He is the one who made it possible.
Thank you, my friend!
