The Devil Wears Prada Wears Friendships Thin Poem by Terence George Craddock

The Devil Wears Prada Wears Friendships Thin

Rating: 5.0

a modern term for fashion power clothes
is numbered in figures cost prestige garments
the devil wears Prada is a price catch phrase
a devil owning his world buys fashion treads
power is in every line cut into designer clothes
chick lit falls not for poverty no hoper hearts
honour integrity in rags gets no second glances
the devil designed wears whoever the devil wants

the devil takes whatever the devil covert wants
the devil job demands what the devil requires
small sellouts time turns into rumble avalanches
faith family integrity make poor obsequious servants
style often wears whipped insincere thin smiles
kindness wins real friendships in gem life long stakes

Kindness Always Wins Accolades In Friendship Stakes it is good to be good kindness is the most precious gift given kindness reassures the empty heart nourishes the sore troubled mind fortifies downtrodden broken spirit uplifts an exhausted body shares heavy life burdens laughs in the face of adversity kindness can be as little as a spoken kind word kindness can be as little as an encouraging smile kindness helps us to sustain run an extra mile kindness can mend a previously broken day kindness can drive tears heartbreak away kindness can bestow a world of difference Copyright © Terence George Craddock Inspired by a comment by Sylva-Onyema Uba on the the poem 'The Devil Wears Prada Wears Friendships Thin' by the poet Terence George Craddock.

Fashionable and unfashionable clothes are both important, for catwalk models, and the poor. The good side and bad side of stylish clothing.

Hi Mark, I tried to reply directly to your Prada comment but the reply panel is presently not working and I have come back to it and this poem several times but the reply refuses to work so replying indirectlt here. Yes fashion is interesting and I think it is predominantly true that fashion gives you a sense of style, of worth, of pride, of identity' if you have the money and expertise to pull the current fashions off. This raise the question of what does it do for those who cannot afford current fashions or the disempowered poor, further segregated by clothes and even more disadvantaged when applying for professional employment without the appropriate attire. Does the job go to merit best qualifications, personality, skills, adaptability or the easy fit social equals and employment along old school tie privileges? I wrote a few poems dealing with these issues, a few concentrating on clothes primarily include Fine Garments Clothe 9.87&27.6.88 Socially Acceptable 6.88 No Answer 18.4.1989 the last two are short. It was nice to get this series of poems completed, the complete version, Prada Dressed In Style Stealing Spotlight Moments' is now posted.112 lines so not for the 12 to 20 line readers, but worth reading for lovers of the short story and novel, it is the essence of a novel condensed and will have meaning insight for readers interested in cultural capital, education and society, privilege and socioeconomic aspects of past and contemporary society. Simplified, it has interesting to intriguing elements for people with questions about life, traditions and inherited values in an ever changing world.

Terry, this is brilliant. Anyone who has ever mentioned Prada to me (and that's not many people) always labour the idea that the fashion GIVES...yes, gives you a sense of style, of worth, of pride, of identity. But in fact, Prada, like the devil....takes, and demands, and claims and exacts. Excellent writing.
