The Devine Right Of.....Candidates, Really? Poem by Sandra Feldman

The Devine Right Of.....Candidates, Really?

Kings and Queens had it easy,
They were born into Tyranny,
But those who have to work,
To get elected,
A much tougher job,
There is competition,
'Let the most astute conniver win! '
For lying, intriguing and even killing,
In their eyes is not a Sin,
If unveiled before they're jailed,
They can always say in their defense,
'What difference does it make? '

In Poly-Tricks everything is Fake,
All you need is the right recipe,
To have and eat your Cake.

Another awesome submission. Very well put. My frustration with politics and those who lie for a living is unending. The arena is becoming surreal to be sure. Thanks again.

WOW! You've distilled what so many of us feel about politics - and politicians. It's the lowest common denominator but I think here the fault is in the stars as well as in us. The complexity of modern society, the huge populations all competing for a piece of the pie, the inequalities everywhere - Whew! Who make a success of taming that beast we call a nation-state? I put my faith in CULTURE, not politics.

Seems that every day it's worse and we are going the South American way. Since the beginning of time the abuse has been so great and continues. My conclusion is that the corruption is such that there is no way out. I too prefer Culture to politics, but how low have we fallen? Will we ever be able to stand up proud again? Thank you so much for your comment, it gives me strength to carry on.

I tried to be a little bit Zola of J'Accuse. Wish it could change things even if it's just a little bit. Thanks for our comment.
