The Door Poem by JoAnn McGrath

The Door

I keep returning to this door
knowing what's in store
because I've been here before
My memories are so clear

I stop before this door and knock
Turn the handle but it's locked
Standing there in shivered shock
Holding back the fear

At this door is nothing more
then a soul....that is poor
looking for a better shore
Knowing it is near

Looking here within
For the inner strength from Him
listen to the little din
Hear the whispers in my ear
