The Drug Dealer And The Baby Poem by Daya Nandan

The Drug Dealer And The Baby

There was a 2 year old boy that was fitting,
While the his older sister was babysitting,
She called her mother whom rushed the child fast,
And brought him to the nearest clinic in hopes his life would last,

Violent jerky movement of both legs, body and each arm,
That could lead to brain damage, death as well as great harm,
Uprolling eyeballs and drooling of saliva upon the poor baby's face,
The seizure was going for almost 10 minutes at its own pace,

The fits stopped spontaneously in the nick of time,
Yet the two year old did not seem so fine,
He was hyperactive and kept saying 'mama mama',
Not realising the intensity of the drama,

The doctor questioned the sister about the event,
And found that baby fitted after ingesting fluid from a bottle on the cement,
He told the mother to get the bottle and rush the baby to the hospital,
To investigate the cause of fitting to this baby so little,

The hospital did a toxicology test on the filthy bottle,
While treating the poor baby at full throttle
The baby fitted again at the hospital redzone,
But the cause of the fitting was now known,

The fitting stopped after treatment by the medical team,
Who controlled the fitting before it got extreme,
The toxicology test was positive for amphetamine,
With the dots connected, the team could see each sign,

The baby is now alright despite the horrid ordeal,
Becoming part of the collateral damage of a drug dealer's deal,
What a traumatic experience for the family it was,
Because of idiots that do not abide by our laws,

The poor baby victimised because of crystal meth dealers and users,
Another innocent victim of these drug abusers,
The people they hurt to get money to feed their addiction,
The damage they do to themselves to live in their world of fiction,

I hope they get caught and rehabilitation opens their eyes,
So they quit drugs and realise the value of their lives,
I hope these criminals change for themselves and our land,
I hope they find the strength to change the destiny within their hand.
