[A tribute for Veteran's Day, November 11,2000.]

Spectators line the streets
Of ornate floats and bands.
Participants proudly march
To the tune of "Dixie Land."

For you, our noble veterans:
Tributes, songs and rhymes.
Pomp and pageantry
For the heroes of our time.

For you, batons twist and twirl,
As the banners fly.
For you, the rising cheers
Against the open sky.

For you, the people march,
As the bugles blow.
You are the mighty worriers
And conquerors of the foe.

You have fought and won for us
The joy of freedom's chime,
And this is why you are to us
"The heroes of our time."
