The Lacework Of The Day Remains

the lacework of the day remains
the curtains shine
the apples on the table of

the still life that is mine.
the anjou pears unwrapped
in winter sunlight.
I never bought-

steam rising from the coffee cup
with scant cream.
but there is nothing scant
about the things I dream.
