The Less Traveled Road Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Less Traveled Road

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes, I do regret that I took
The less traveled road
With its swampy ditches
And the snakes I met along the way
But I couldn't see myself
Taking the more traveled one
Working, getting marry
And having 2.4 kids
Then finding myself cursing at all
The decisions I had made
As I look to relieve my pain in a bottle
Of wine
And ending up bitter like my friends who
Don't see the reason they are miserable
As they are unfulfilled from cleaning the snot
And having to continue to raise them
On fourteen dollars/hour after the divorce
And cursing the son-of-a-bitch
Because he left with a younger tart
I am glad that I still pursue my dream
Of reciting and writing poetry for a living
For it's the best road I could have taken

'I am glad that I still pursue my dream Of reciting and writing poetry for a living For it's the best road I could have taken' - that's a very nice road to take, but I am not sure if that would suffice as a means of living. 'And having 2.4 kids'? Wondering on the point four!

There may never be a perfect road, but there is always a better one...A great lesson! A great verse.
