Each night I prepare for the ritual,
When through my window moonlight streams,
I say a prayer, then close my eyes
And await the man of my dreams
Smiling angels watch as he pulls me close,
And when his lips to mine are pressed,
It's then I praise the Lord of Dreams,
For now I know how I've been blessed
And since that first night, the sweet dream recurs
Each and every night without fail,
I fall asleep, then I'm with him,
And we start love's journey full sail
I dare not question such a mystery,
I'll not seek an explanation,
Soon, the hour of the midnight bell
Will fill with anticipation
And now, because of some strange quirk of fate
I need not fear, nor do I dread
Chimes of the lonely midnight hour
As I lay in my empty bed
How many eyes are wet with burning tears
While lifted to Heaven in prayer,
With smile and song they'd greet a dream
With a loving heart waiting there
But how many hearts are breaking tonight,
Longing for sleep to escape pain,
They hide their faces from the day,
But their efforts are all in vain
And so in my dreams my love comes to me,
I'm free of all sadness and tears,
Nighttime provides enduring love..
That with the daylight disappears
when we make for our love a permanent abode in our heart, passing times can't ever make a void. magic ink Lora.
How painful and pathetic it is, to miss the person dear to our hearts when in reality..... he or she is no more! indeed, I am praying for you that one day, this man of your dreams will return and have your usual 'ritual' and sail the whole night. A very passionate poem that goes straight to the soul. Well done great poet!
A very comforting and mystical imagery which is beyond any explanation, reaches the the soul in a land of peace being embraced with your love you dream...... loved it.
oh how our dreams can carry us away. a restful night full of dreams so romantic. I frequent there myself love your poem
Lora! A bit more mystical and metaphysical than the others! ! ! I love it! I go to a happy place each night too! I enter reality!
Just remember the immortal words of Albert Einstein Dear Poet and your life will be full to the rafters.... 'Reality is an illusion! '
