The Maturing Mermaid Poem by Airda Jones

The Maturing Mermaid

Well the maybe he was right
Maybe there's something wrong with me
But how is that so with a world like this
Full of such things, could it possibly be?

So I'm the girl who has it all
Treasures that most of the world hasn't seen
But surrounded by all of these gadgets and gizmos
Is this what life is supposed to mean?

But is there anyone who really cares?
That I want to see more and be more
When I'm strolling down the street
And dancing and jumping across the floor

I want to be a part of everyone
Oh what I wouldn't give
Just to have someone for once understand
That I need the chance to live

So now I am ready to stand
Use my legs, have myself stand without fail
Not sink down deep into the waters
Where I am just a mysterious tale

I'm ready to be out there and learn to know
What they all think that they know
But what they don't really know for sure
Is how much I am ready to let go

I have these questions and now
It is time that I finally get my answers
I have flopped around long enough
And now it will be my turn

So now its my time to love and live
Time to explore, become woman from girl
Making something from my dream to be
Part of that world.
