'Media' was a word not heard once:
newspapers, radio and television
were separate streams of information
with their own journalists, announcers,
And prim presenters. Now the media
shape public opinion -or try to-
withlisteners who cannot think for themselves;
they have become like receivers ofwaves.
At least there is a choice between satellite
and terrestrial- transmitted television channels.
High definition pictures suit sharp eyesight,
as you see more depth like three dimensions-you might.
Many newspapers have changed from broadsheet
to tabloid, which impresses as 'easy read'.
Many people read nothing but newspapers although
they might glance at magazines now and then.
It is easier still to turn on the radio,
whether AM or FM and a host of stations.
Radio is good for summer sports broadcasts
and little else, perhaps. Depends on your taste.
(2) Newspaper is still the main source of information and/or of analyses of issues- social, economic, political, scientific and literary etc. You have presented a balanced picture of what media has done or what it is capable of doing. Thanks, Dear Friend.
Thanks Rajnish. It's hard to say whether newspapers or television are the main source of information today. They both matter.
You have taken an objective view of newspapers, radio and television collectively known as 'media' today. TV News channels have become chaotic since there is no other way to keep themselves busy 24 hours a day. FM Radio is more popular among car drivers/owners than general public.
When I was younger, the word 'media' had not been coined. As you say, TV may cater for viewers 24 hours a day. Imagine watching CNN for all that time. I find that I listen to AM radio, but your comment about FM radio is most interesting.

Radio? Is there still such a thing as radio? Ha! Just kidding. I listen to the radio almost every day when driving in my car or truck. Like you, when at home, I prefer long stretches of silence. I sometimes watch sports on TV, but seldom watch anything else except the news.
Fair comment. I find a car stereo a bonus, to play whenever I'm driving. I like TV sports, but not, so far with my new TV, the news. It could happen later. Regards, Michael.
