The Missing Piece Poem by Jim Yerman

The Missing Piece

As I look out on the world and see hatred rearing it ugly head
and wars that never cease…
It seems to me in this world-wide puzzle we're trying to construct
we're missing one important piece.

One missing piece…the last piece that would make our puzzle complete.
and until we find this missing piece our life is doomed to be bittersweet.

What makes this all the more frustrating…
since this is the last piece of the puzzle we require to succeed.
Is that we know the exact shape and size of the missing piece we need.

Love and acceptance are part of that final piece…
We all love our family and our fiends….
but for many…at the border of our family and friends
is where our love and acceptance ends.

What if that missing piece will only materialize
what if our puzzle can only be done…
when the love we feel for our family and friends
extends across the world…to everything…and everyone?

When our love and acceptance extends to everyone and everything
eventually all hatred and wars will cease…
and our puzzle will be completed…
When we add our final puzzle….peace.
