The Never-Ending Fight... Poem by Dean Simpson

The Never-Ending Fight...

Rating: 5.0

As she lays there falling apart
How does she feel, what is she thinking?
I will never know
I couldnt imagine
Its eating away at her and no one can help her.

I wish i could lay a hand on her and say it's ok
Wires falling everywhere
Her hands, her face anywhere they can go
I dont know where to touch
Just give her the strength to hold on.

I remember the way she would wait for me in her room
I would pace the stairs and fall forever into her arms
But now the room is empty
Just a bed and a cupboard
Surrounded by the nothing that fills the room.

I still see her in her favourite chair
But when i move to her
The image vanishes
Along with my smile
Its a long way till the Crossroads, but i'll be there soon.

And just like before
I'll run through the white of the clouds
Without a care but to see you
And you'll have arms wide open
I promise i'll be there, just like i was before.

I'll see you soon
I promise you that
Cancer stole you from us
But not forever
Just for now...

What a wonderful and memorable poem! I really liked the line 'I'll run through the white of the clouds! ' The title fits the poem perfectly and the ending is optimistic. You will be with her again someday Dean! Physically, we expire, but our souls entwined in true love's warmth has no shelf life! Take care Dean. Top marks! -Michael
