The One Successful To You Poem by Francis Duggan

The One Successful To You

Rating: 5.0

The praises of celebrities many may sing
But success in itself is a relative thing
The one successful to you may not be so to me
Though in thinking i am of the minority
The parents they ought to feel proud of their daughter or son
Who any harm to anyone never have done
Though not seen as the more successful of the town
In word or deed they never put anyone down
The wealthy and famous so many admire
And of singing their praises never seem to tire
Though the size of your home, your swimming pool or new car
Does not say anything of the person that you really are
Those who are kind and compassionate and live as good people are my idea of success
But these sort of people few seem to impress.
