The Parent Poem by Samantha Collins

The Parent

you say you can't handle me
the way i feel
the way i act
the way i live,
but you don't realize
that your the reason i am this way.

because of your age your my parent
but because of your selfish ways
your my child.

i hold you when you cry
i comport you when they leave
and tell you every thing's going to be okay.

which is why at such a young age
i had to grow up.
i had to strong for the both of us
or else neither of us would be able to make it.
i hope you grow up soon
or i won't be able to take it much longer..
