The Parting Pain Poem by Amitava Sur

The Parting Pain

The funeral is just over
All are back at home
The head count is less by one
My beloved isn’t seen any more.
It is so dark and hushed around
Only the griefs crossover.

The door of this earth
Has closed for me,
I don’t find the key of it
To open and reenter.

Where is my beloved gone?
Where is my life?
Winter is cast all over -
Covered with thick ice.

Loudly I cry alone-
Stretching hands towards the sky,

But no tears are shedding down
They all are chocked and dry.

In front of candle light
I try to feel you,
You gaze to me with your x ray eyes now
Might be smiling at me.

Feeling of loneliness
Is chewing the mind
Raging emptiness
Is so horrifying.

The parting pain -
Is so vicious and so much unkind,
No reasoning can solace me -
Breaks the heart and mind.

The funeral is just over
All are back at home,
It is so dark and hushed around
Only the griefs crossover.

A tenderly written and touching write. You poured out your heart and soul in this poem. Todays pain and grief will be tomorrows healing. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Heartfelt.

Amitava, my heart goes out to you. After losing a loved one, the sorrow leaves such a horrifying emptiness and silence, a hole in your heart that you can't fill. Know that sharing your grief through your poetry touches and helps others going through the same pain. One line that struck and resonated deeply within my mind was Feeling of loneliness is chewing the mind, it made me feel the pain you are feeling. Excellent expression and imagery of emotions you're going through, a heart-touching memory of your love. RoseAnn

Know just how you feel Amitava, having just gone through it myself, and still suffering. It is one of the hardest things that life can throw at us, the price we pay for love it is said. You have expressed your feelings here, and you must continue to do so for as long as you feel you need to. My best wishes to you.
