The Perils Of Public Prayer Poem by Ima Ryma

The Perils Of Public Prayer

Rating: 5.0

The U.S. Constitution did
Get written by a bunch of guys
Who prayed a lot of prayer amid,
For God's good grace to guide them wise.
Religion became a debate
As to the role of government.
Public prayer - what should be its fate?
If prayer at all, then what content?
Nine black robed D.C. folks get to
Decide the fate of public prayer.
Before each Court session they do
A 'God save...' through the public air.

Too bad government oft moves from
Godly prayer to humanly dumb.
