The Poemhunter Hydra Poem by Shaun Cronick

The Poemhunter Hydra

Rating: 5.0

Legends ominously tell of Lake Lerna,
And also something else to beware.
A serpentine monster called The Hydra,
With many heads a true nightmare.

For if you cut off one head,
Two more will hideously appear.
Of a creature filled with poison,
The Hydra born to project fear.

There is a Hydra among us,
False profiles are its vile heads.
And it all leads to one man,
Enjoying his deceit as it spreads.

Excellent poem Shaun..spot on good sir! . I think your deployment of Hydra imagery from Greek mythology is very apt indeed. In many ways, working one's way through this site, whilst trying to maintain one's dignity and artistic integrity is akin to the 12 Labours of Heracles! Like the Augean stables, methinks it desperately needs to be cleaned and purified. Perhaps, we two noble British knights can help with this, Anyhow, it's a test the patience of a saint inspired ten from me!
