the poet in me knows
a very simple truth
to know what
I am going to write
I must begin writing
the words
are not within me;
the words
are within the universe
and I am their voice;
I can sometimes
write an entire poem;
start to finish word perfect;
without knowing
what I am writing;
most of my poems
are not chosen topics;
a moment
a point
in time;
that could
be fixed
measured
traced
arrives;
it could
be any time
day or night;
anytime free time
relatively relaxed;
and thus
normally daily
I will write;
rarely
with a plan;
as to what
how I will write;
I will write
because I need to write;
as rain needs to fall;
as rivers need to flow;
as flowers need to grow;
I write as I breathe
thus not to write
is not to breathe

Beautiful thoughts of a true Poet. Yes, writing poetry is like breathing. Liked the penultimate and ultimate stanzas.
