The Poetry Lynch Mob Poem by Ramona Thompson

The Poetry Lynch Mob

Better watch what you say
Better watch how you write it
Or in angry throes waving their pens and notebooks wildly in the air they will come for you
Self-proclaimed crititcs and poetic gods
So called literary genius writers
One and all
At your door
Uh oh!
Here comes the poetry lynch mob!

Ugly, rude and right in your face
Jealous because their own careers have stalled and gone nowhere
Down to their level of pitful depression and ire
They will gladly drag you if you let 'em
Misery loves company as they say
And it sure is true
For it seems they can't get enough of it
Poor, bitter little narroow-minded fools that they are

Try to avoid 'em at all costs
Pay no attention to their constant petty tears
24/7
Ranting and raving
Just like they were the latest escapees from the local insane aslyum
Makes you wonder
Just where the parents who raised them went wrong
Did they have kid of loving guidance at all?
It's most doubtful

Censorship
Oh how dearly they do love to embrace it as their motto
Through to your face
They would deny everything
Secretly they want no one poet or writer to triumph over another
Secretly they believe
A cookie cutter kind of world is best
Stamp out all individuals
Label them then ban them as a hazard
So goes the creed
Most foul indeed of the one and only twisted circle that is.......

The Poetry Lynch Mob!
