The Poignant Image In My Heart Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Poignant Image In My Heart

Who? Who? Who are you? Tell me.
With passion and shine in eyes, you behold me.

I have lost my interest in life.
I can’t be off the thoughts of her.
I writhe a lot in mental strife;
and the gossip to kill me is at strife.
Then why do you harp on love to me?

Your heart is larger than the ocean.
Your mind is sharper and cuter.
You shower smiles on this widower.
You want to walk with this broken man.
Yet how can my soul unite with thine?

Forgive me for my numb response.
I can’t shrug off those inner feelings.
The wrecked ship needn’t be towed again.
Let you be caressed in the new spring
to make in you a melodious sweet ring.
