The Quiet Room Poem by Dorsey Baker

The Quiet Room

He thinks
about being an old man
being cripple
and being in a wheelchair
He thinks
about being alone
and lonely
He thinks
about his friends
dead and gone
He thinks
about the hands of time
and how
they take your youth
away from you
thinking
turns into depression
because the room
is so very dark
where he sits
ans smokes his
stinky cigar
nothing and no one
enters his privacy
his eyes cannot
penetrate the darkness
his ears
cannot penetrate the silence

A lonely mind of an old man is wonderfully expressed in this poem through his thinking.
