The Race Isn'T Over Poem by Dakota Ellerton

The Race Isn'T Over

When someone we love dies
life seems to change
it's all an illusion
it starts to rearrange

time goes by quickly
but it feels so slow
a year is a day
in time it will show

almost two years have passed
since I've seen my fathers face
the person I miss the most
you shall never be replaced

my grandmothers passing
is when my life fell
like the starting of a bad race
that was the bell

I will know many more who parish
athough I wish not to see
these images keep me up at night
watching loved ones die haunts me

life and death
it's all in our mind
live for today
leave the past behind
