The Real Life Poem by Jayne Louise Davies

The Real Life

Rating: 5.0

When we were children back in the day,
Nothing would ever get in our way,
Whatever the weather we'd go out to play,
For we'd just make the most of it
come what may.

When we were children we'd go for long walks,
Play hopscotch, pick flowers
Tell silly jokes,
Sit in the cafe with a bottle of coke,
Have respect for our elders
Speak politely to folks.

When were children the music was great,
We walked to our school,
It was rare to be late,
Played in the park
till the clock struck eight,
To return to our homes,
Where our good mums would wait.

When we were children we failed to see,
That life can be harsh,
It's cruel and real,
That wars will go on,
Will we ever find peace?
Right now it's a dream,
So out of reach.

That is such a beautiful poem; and so true, the simplicity of youth
