The Retired Life Of Merp Poem by Prem Nizar Hameed

The Retired Life Of Merp

Recently, Merp retired from
His job; he shared his concerns:
Retired life means so tired life:
the retired one will get tired
of the frequent complaints raised
by his most beloved ones;
They start auditing bygone
service days of the retired
with a silly questionnaire:
'You gave those people that much,
but you didn't give me that much;
you spent there lot of money
but you didn't spend here that much'
"That neighbour has four wheeler
the next one has two wheeler
even though they do not have
better job facilities
than what you had all these years"

Suppose the retired defends
with his unavoidable
true responsibilities
he is bound to carry out,
then other comment would come:
"Such responsibilities,
like you, belong to them, too"
if the retired kept silence,
then comes another question:
"Where has gone the tongue? Swallowed? "
So, the life of the retired
is so tired and worrisome!
