(the)right To Prove It Wrong Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

(the)right To Prove It Wrong

So many spend their lifetimes,
Trying to find ways...
To prove what is right and correct.
To be wrong.
Disappointing and ineffective.

Listening?
Is not what they do best.
Ears refuse to hear.
Mouths stay open seldom closed.
To know their lips together,
Are able to meet.
Although for them,
This to do seems an impossibility.

Any direction they should take,
To consider and appreciate...
Suggestions or advice,
From others volunteering...
Experiences to have lived become dismissed.
Can not prevent people like this,
From facing brick walls to question why...
There is a dead end road on the other side!

So many will spend lifetimes,
Trying to find ways...
To defy what is right and correct.
Yet...
With determination they get,
Exactly what they want.
To then complain about the view of it.
Restricted by brick walls.
Build to prevent,
A dead end road they had been warned about.
