The Secret Poem by Ray Southworth

The Secret

To know something and not let it show

to understand it and still not know

it burns a hole deep inside

it comes up again and still I hide

let it go is what I hear

to commit to it is what others fear

it speaks to me day after day

all the while others pray

the reality is that it is true

the feeling is just as blue

I offer my open arms

and hope no others feel the harm

the warmth of it takes a hold of me

I walk alone into the sea

the destiny of it all

is only measured by this wall

I can call it all my own

for this I truly call my home
