Know thou that to be an immortal soul
That pervades this cosmos a whole,
That which remains same, unalloyed,
In no way can it be destroyed. || 2.17 ||

avināshi tu tat viddhi yena sarvam idam tatam |
vināsham avyayasya asya na kashchit kartum arhati ||

a-vināshi: imperishable, immortal, indestructible; tu: but (‘parantu'): tat: that;
viddhi: do thou know; yena: by which; sarvam: all, everything; idam: this, here; tatam:pervaded, diffused; vināsham: destruction, death; a-vyayasya: of the unchanging, eternal, immutable; asya: of it, of this (soul): na kashchit: in no way; kartum: to do; arhati: is possible, can be done.
