The Spirit Of Soldiers Past & Present Poem by Patricia Gale

The Spirit Of Soldiers Past & Present

Rating: 5.0

In the graves of souls gone by
Who had given their life’s for crown or gold
The blade of right or wrong, truth or lie
And their memory lies in the dust of what once was life’s hold
Giving the right of honor and glory
For their reward to lie amongst the cold ground
And silence is now their story
Not a single one to sing their sound
Endeavors of righteousness or glory for the cause
All lie mute and forgotten in time
Alas remember not the flesh but for a moment pause
Recall the strength and the belief
The right to hear the journey’s chime
Rob me nigh of this time you shall bear the mark of thief
For my blood was not spilled in vain
It was given for your freedom
